Farmers Market to Frankenmuth, Michigan

Our plans for the day were to relax, get the laundry done, clean house, wash the motorhome and putter.  But how can you do menial chores when the sun is shinning and playtime is calling your names.  We caved and decided another mini road trip to Frankenmuth wouldn't hurt anyone.  First we headed off to the local farmer's market.  They only have small markets here because most of the farms are now small. :-)

An interesting man was hand carving items and pleased as punch when anyone would just stop to look.  I was very tempted to buy one of his walking sticks.  They were beautiful and very inexpensive.  He said he could shorten any of them to fit.  No problem.  Makin em longer was a challenge, but doable.

We did take the girls with us but they were shooed off back to the car.  Can't have animals walking around unwashed fruit and veggies and stuff laying all over a parking lot.  Sure was pleased that they showed such consideration for our girls wellbeing.

I did find some yummy corn, string beans and a zucchini for a stir fry dinner.

Okay, let's go find Frankenmuth...only 50 miles north of our park.

Welcome to Leavenworth...er Frankenmuth.

Crossed this beautiful bridge to find ample parking in the back, even for big rigs.  There's an entry to the back parking just south of this entry which would work better for the rigs.

A great view walking across the bridge.

As you can see it's a wooden bridge with low clearance.

First stop was a small outdoor beer garden outside the Bavarian Inn.  Live music played all day.

Smile, the coo coo clock in the back.

Lunch.  Beer and Brats.  Tasty.

A kaleidoscope over a spinning pot of flowers.  Unique and dizzying.

Now Leavenworth missed the horse and buggy trick.  Gotta take the ozone change with the beauty of the carriage.

An interesting and creative depiction, yet a predictable twist on a flower bed.

The Chicken Dinner House...finally I was able to locate it with the help of this interesting huge display.

The proverbial town museum.  All towns have some interesting history.

Now this is fun.  A lace store.  I LOVE LACE.  Though I went through this phase in my early days, I still love it.  That must be my latent girly side peeking out.

 Ohhhh hoho...now we be talking!

Ah sweet mystery of love at last I've found you......

Jelly Bellies or ice cream?

Jelly Bellies or ice cream?

Drip, drip...ICE CREAM
wins.

Of course you can't go to Frankenmuth without a stroll through the "over the top" Christmas Store.  A football field and a half size store of twinkles, ornaments, trees, everything Christmas.  It took ten minutes before I was short fused and on overload.  My knickknack absorption factor is remarkably low.  Where was that exit door?

Very pretty......

Even my favorites....Mermaids

Red Ornaments

 Green Ornaments

Blue Ornaments

White, purple, orange, clear, and of course every animal on Noah's Ark, every cartoon character, every hobbie, profession, foods, drinks, angels, snowmen, cowboys, Indians, under the sea, in the air, balloons, kites, and every country even.

Trees, did anyone say they need a tree? Every size available from 1 to 30 feet. Lights, no lights, ornaments, no ornaments, flocked, unflocked....see why I'm exhausted after 10 minutes...

And I heard as we road out of sight, "if you can't find it here, they don't make it".  Amen.

Thanks for visiting.

Clean house, laundry, and washing motorhome doesn't sound like a day of relaxation to me. Glad to see you made better use of a beautiful day. Keep it up. Gail
