WOW!! Larry actually was up and pounding on our door this morning an hour early for our day touring Custer State Park, Needle Highway and Crazy Horse Memorial. We began our morning at Fort Hayes for 99cent all you can eat pancakes. Now that's a deal only beat by 50000 Silver Coins Casino's free parking with electric and water in Haugan, MT.

99 cent all you can eat pancakes at Fort Hayes just 4 miles away.

After a filling breakfast we headed south to Custer State Park and the Needles Highway. What beautiful weather we had too!
 |
| Our RV's fit right through. Larry's got stuck and is still there. :-) |
Along the drive we even caught glimpses of Mount Rushmore. Actually it's visible in the "V" just through the above tunnel. What a sight to see after decades of only reading about it.
 |
| This is what is seen at the end of the tunnel just nestled in the bottom of the "V". |

| Mr. Hunk same location. |
We continued through the beauty of South Dakota's Custer State Park. So much history. Did you know Rapid City is the "Most Patriotic City" in the USA?
Suddenly WOW....

| Crazy Horse Memorial. Crazy Horse was a War Chief with the Lakota Tribe |
This memorial was started in 1948. It is built and funded by private and public donations. No Federal funds have been used. Which explains why it is only this far along. To give you a sense of it's size the entire carvings of Mount Rushmore is approximately half the size of the mountain just behind the profile of Crazy Horse. The opening which is below what will be the outstretched arm can hold a 10 story building.

| This is an overlay of what the memorial will eventually look like. |
