Cherry Valley - Amish Furniture

Gail, Larry, Bill and I were off by 9:30 in the morning.  First stop, free donuts at the Welcome Center.  Always good.  We headed out in search of Cherry Valley, near Andover, Ohio.  With a little encouragement from Gail and I, Larry stopped at a few yard sales.  Anyone need baby clothes?  Not this group!

Larry even stopped so I could see and take a picture of corn.  I could recognize corn growing because of the stalks but I'd actually never seen corn growing.  Amazing.  I wondered how those tassels at the top of the stalk could support those ears.  Ha! 64 and still learning.

Isn't it interesting how a simple drive can turn into a confusing drive down secondary roads that then turned into gravel roads.  That's when Larry pulled over and turned back.  He'd just paid $8 for a car wash and gravel roads and dust was unwelcome.

Came across this really neat house...hey Peggy, got another one.  This one looks haunted.

We did find the Cherry Valley Amish Store not too far from here.

This is going to be fun.

There are two building onsite.  This huge barn with furniture, gifts and tons of bulk foods.  Come here with a list of kitchen and cooking supplies you need.  You can't take advantage of all the novelty items without one, unless your memory is unlike most of us seniors.

Their outside furniture is so comfortable.  How do they do it.  This stuff is beautiful and comfortable too.

Lots of stoves.  I was hoping to see one like the Ersparmers have but the ones here are all wood or pellet stoves.
I love this chair.

The matching bench with a hat rack I managed to chop off in my picture.

Some of the finely made wood gifts.

After purchasing baked good, bulk items, kitchen items and fresh peaches and apples we headed out once again.  We're heading for the Riverdale Covered Bridge when we see a "BARN SALE".  Whew!  What a lot of stuff!

Gail checking out some little goodie.

Out in a separate barn was antiques.  Spinning wheels, sleds, dining sets, tools, toys,

We found this old folding wooden table about 16 x 24.  Works great outside for get togethers.  Heck, Bill has it inside now for his laptop table.  Multi use.

We arrived at the bridge loaded down with table, bulk foods, peaches, apples and stuff.

So Larry and Gail have seen bridge number one.

Later that evening we had a potluck at party central.  More delicious food and company.  Oh and we also hit the ice cream social at 2 p.m. earlier in the afternoon....shhhhh!

So where is everyone?

Ah, at the food table.

 Come on Gail...you'll miss out.

Larry took time out to tell Randy and Sherry they are missed.

Thanks for visiting.  See you soon.

We remember those Ohio barn sales from when we stayed at the Wilmington TT park. George still has his antique metal Tonka truck. He got it for a grandson and saved it for himself....HA! My (Dottie's) family lives in the Amish area in PA.
