Old Timer's Festival = Our kinda place

I wasn't born in the South but I got here as fast as I could.  How appropriate, an Old Timer's Festival.

The smell of dozens of different foods cooking stimulated our appetite and we opted for lunch first.  Needed fuel to walk this festival.  We ordered two of these plates and shared them.  It was plenty and so delicious.  Cole slaw, beans, pulled pork and barbecue ribs.

In addition to all the vendor tents and people milling around there was the constant sound of bluegrass music in the air.

There were numerous groups of players, rotating onto the stage.  During the wait they entertained small groups throughout the grounds.  Here's a few.

One things for sure, the return attendees knew to bring chairs.  There were chairs set up all over the place.

And dancing...I think it's called clogging.

A 360 degree view of the festival.

Lots of interesting crafts for sale.

An Indian Wedding Basket

I bought the iron spikes that go into the pumpkin and makes a cute turkey.  Think I'll paint the feathers too.

The old fashioned way to make sorghum, a product similar to molasses.

The poor horse walks round and round in circles and the man sits there shoving cane into a press.  The press compresses the cane and it drips out into a bucket one drip at a time.  Fortunately there's another horse to share the honor.

Then a few guys stand around and watch the sorghum bubble down and the horse goes round and round.  Then it's bottled.

They should hook up one of these things and git the job done.

Check out the pink tractor.

Mighty purrty

A few of the crafters and vendors.

 Beautiful hand whittled walking sticks.

Before we got to the Festival we stopped along the way at an interesting yard sale and a country store.

After leaving the Festival we stopped at two roadside stores.  First was a chainsaw carvers shop.

 Beautiful sea otters.

Never saw a helicopter before.

                                                                      My favorite, mermaids.

 Lots of bears and wildlife.
Got to have a few creepy chairs.  How's this octopus chair.

 Hey Sasquatch!
 And a draggin chair.

Oops...sorry little guy.

The Tree of Lost Soles

And the strangest chair of all, and Larry's favorite.  The pierced tongue chair...are we talking brass or chrome balls?

Last Stop of the Day

A Beautiful Carved Door.

Can anyone spot the second turkey?

Busted!  Second ice cream cone for the afternoon for Bill and Larry.

That's a full day.  Thanks for visiting...see you soon.
