Dollywood Doubles

So if we go to Dollywood at 3 p.m. or later we get in the next day for free. That's a deal! There is so much entertainment going on at Dollywood you'd barely have time to see the other crafts, scenery or go on any rides. So we decided to break it into two days.

We went in about 3 p.m. on Sunday afternoon. We almost had the park to ourselves. It was so nice.

There's a trolley that takes you up to the park from the Municipal Parking at the Old Mill, about 1 mile away. It costs 50 cents each way. Another deal. Beats $10 for parking.

Flowers and beautiful trees and scenery everywhere. It's like walking through a living postcard.

I took 200 pictures in 3 hours we were at the park. What will tomorrow be like.

Gail and I will go on some rides, for sure.

First show we attended was The Great American Country with headliner Matt Willis.

This is the cast, taking turns singing. All had great voices.

Headliner, Matt Willis, he had a few hits, i.e. 1970 Something. And a fabulous voice.

Tons of beautiful glass work.

The glassblower, in his shop was interesting to watch.

Now this looks like a fun ride.

Wild Birds of Prey was the second entertainment event we attended. Dollywood maintains a wild birds of prey sanctuary with injured birds that cannot be released back into the wild. They have eagles, falcons, vultures, hawks, etc. Many are incorporated into the show. The good part is that eagles mate for life and everyone of the 18 in the sanctuary has selected a mate. To date Dollywood has released 146 of their eagle offspring into the wild of Tennessee.

A magnificent owl. It weighed about 9 pounds.
