Nashville Double Stop

We left Arnold Air Force Base around 9:30 this morning. That's a little late for Bill and Susan and way early for Larry and Gail. It's hard work getting them up and moving much before that. However, Nashville was only about 90 miles away so off we went.

Stop One

We'd decided to stay at the Elks Lodge about 6 miles north of the Grand Ole Opry. Arrived there and two electrical outlets were still open. Lucky us....or so we thought. There were two rigs already there but the occupants were missing. Which was fine but one car was left behind blocking one site. Larry backed into one and we decided to wait for them to return. About an hour later they came back and moved their car and left again. There still wasn't enough room for us without our slides almost touching. The thought of Larry's crapper two feet from our dining table.....well, you get it. Our bedrooms were almost touching...you know this is too cozy.

We made a call to the CORE of Engineers to see if we could get into the Cedar Gage park about 15 miles further out of town. That's when we found out that Seven Points, the CORE park we'd reserved months ago before the shutdown, was actually open again. This was contrary to our returned money (in the mail) and cancellation of reservation notices received. They confirmed they still had a few sites left, so off we went.

We were back to where we were scheduled to be pre-shutdown. So over the river,

Stop Two

It was 3 p.m. by the time we plugged in and set up and we were all soooo hungry. Gail of course mentioned she'd seen a Steak n Shake on the way over. None of us had eaten breakfast or lunch and we were all so weak we couldn't resist.

We GPSd and found one 4-8 miles away. You know with a GPS these days it's never what you think it is even if it's what it says it is, but then isn't. You understand I'm sure.

Happy Hour at Steak n Shake. Can't even remember, between the four of us when we last stopped at one. We can remember we did but not where. We are pathetic eh?

There was a Verizon across the street but Gail drove five miles to find it. Stupid GPS. Snapped this photo from the Verizon Wireless Store. We are still trying to get Gail a new iPhone 5s. Still no luck. But a pretty shot so not a total waste.

Did we luck out or what. Such a beautiful park. We are right on the lake. Primo sites cost us $2.00 a day more. A total of $12 a night.

Magnificant sunsets and great sites. What else can you want...maybe more sun and warmer temps. Did someone say 29 tonight?

Definitely time to head south....next week for sure.
