Tombigbee to Jeff Busby

We were fortunate after getting into Tupelo to be able to go into Tombigbee State Park.  We'd had the parking light on the dash flickering on and off, mostly on for the past two weeks.  It's a workhorse chassis weak spot.  Time to fix it considering the whole rig locked up and couldn't go forward or back.  You think you have a GM RGS (that rotten green switch) and in fact it's an ACDELCO.  But miracles of miracles, we found one switch in Tupelo.  The repair delayed our departure by one day but we'd earlier talked about laying low for a day or two so everyone was happy with the delay.

We had nice spots perpendicular to each other.  It created a nice firepit area which we enjoyed the last balmy evening.

Picture's not good but there's Bill running down his Smartphone.  A man and his new toy.  Can't pry it out of his hands.

Here he is late at night...everyone's gone in to bed and he's still playing on it.

Geez he's still there the following morning.

The rig got fixed with Larry's help and then the two guys fixed Larry's headlight bulb.  Always something isn't it.  I'm so proud of Bill, he can fix anything.  My Man!

By now it's 12:30 and we're heading out.  About an hour into the drive we realized we could not make Jackson before dark and no one wanted to drive the Trace in the dark.  So we headed to Jeff Busby No Fee Park.  A few stops along the way.  Nooooo not another mound says Gail, Larry and Bill.  Yes, but I like them.

Just a site marker along the way.
At another stop we visited an area of the Old Trace that begins to show you how rutted the trail actually is in many locations.

This area along the Trace is sad to see.  A tornado in the spring of 2010 must have tracked up the Trace itself to cause miles and miles of destruction.  There were plenty of homes in the area with new roofs.  I'm sure there was extensive damage to all.

Jeff Busby is a very pretty rest area.  There are minimal services but the quiet and peacefulness of the park make the lack of power well worth the sacrifice.

Got ourselves a pretty site.

And just across the road Larry and Gail got a pretty site too.

Time to make a fire and enjoy the evening.  Bill pulling the chairs out of the car.

A beautiful park in every direction.  It was almost dark within an hour or arriving.  Good call on stopping for the night.

Besides we couldn't have gotten these gorgeous pictures.

A pretty setting for dinner around the fire.

Bill stoking the last of the fire.  By 5pm it was dark.  We all were in for the night by 6:30.  Sure glad we stopped at the Busby.  Glad we got the opportunity to experience it.

Tomorrow we head towards Jackson or Rocky Springs.

Thanks for visiting.  Come back soon.
