Beaufort does have history, however much of it is connected to the American Revolution and Civil War. Because of it's deep ports it was one of the first to be commandeered by the Union and used as a convenient area to group Union soldiers.
The city never regained it's wealth following the Civil War and since August 27, 1893, when a class 3 hurricane slammed into Beaufort, it has been in a steady recline. Even the introduction of Hilton Head has done little to boost it's standing.
There's a lot more to Beaufort than I'm telling you but I'm going to share our fun too. This is approaching a cute riverfront park and marina.
Lots of boats, no one out on such a beautiful day.
Put the phone down and walk away Randy.
Harry and Cheri Stilphen enjoying the swing.

Someone just left this work for a break...in a storefront window.
Boy did we have a blast in this oil and vinegar store. A little churning stomach afterwards but what wonderful flavors.
Some of the beautiful homes still existing in Beaufort.
It was a fun day. We traveled into Beaufort many times...that's where the Walmart was located...just 22 miles from the park. I'm not saying Yemassee is in the middle of nowhere....oh heck, yes I am.
Come back soon. I'm on a roll now. Just 7 more drafts to finish up. Thanks for visiting.
