A Drive Into Jefferson's Farmer's Market

Saturday morning and it's finally Farmer's Market Day.  I've waited all week for this.  The drive into Jefferson is so pretty, it was worth going into town for that alone.  The drive in.....this is within the first half mile heading east.

Then it's over the river and through the woods.  I took these pictures right from the car.

I love all the little farms.  Some in better shape than this one.  But it's artistically interesting.

I found the market but it didn't amount to much.  The produce was pretty but only one table full.

Bought some of these peaches.

and a zucchini

This lady was so laid back she forgot to bring her produce...except for that tomato.

There was a rummage sale at the church in front of the market.  A dollar a bag.  That sure sounded like a deal until you saw what was for sale. I couldn't find more than 20 cents worth of stuff to get.  I ended up with a Halloween Bingo dauber and two wooden spoons for a nickel a piece.  Big spender.

There was a grocery store across the street from the rummage sale church so I decided to check it out and pick up a couple of items.  The Golden Dawn.  Ran into a couple of Amish shoppers.  I followed them around, they knew where all the bargains were.

Never in my life have I seen such a huge display of rifles available in a grocery store.  The selection was better for rifles than it was for ice cream.

And mounted heads????  I'm still not sure if their displayed selection was for sale or represented boasting rights.

The drive back now.  The drive in is loaded with beautiful old homes on stately grounds.  Everyone seems to love their lawns.  These are two I've wanted to photo for a week.  So patriotic.

These are participants in the bike ride to see the covered bridges.  I wasn't interested in a 70 miles bike ride myself but it was good to see so many out on such a pretty day.

The artistic farm from the other side.

Back along the river and over the bridge.

The lush green fields before you turn into Kenisee Lakes TT Park.

Linda and Ove and Kathie and Bob joined us for a potluck dinner.  We played a few games of Ono when Trish and John came by.  We lit the fire and sat around and laughed for the next two hours.  Linda, Ove, Kathie and Bob are leaving in the morning.  We've had a great visit with them and will miss them.

Come back again.
