Horse Hairs and Feathers

You should have seen the accident we came upon on our way to the County Fair today.  A Mustang and a Thunderbird hit head on doing 60 mph.

Yeah, there were horse hairs and feathers everywhere!  Ta dum!!!!

Okay, back to important stuff.

Since we were able to get in free, we drove 35 miles to Painesville, Ohio to the Lake County Fair.  We were expecting something along the lines of the County Fair up in Lynden...nope.  This Fair felt like we'd stepped back in time about 50 years.  There was just about everything there from burros to old horse buggys.

Okay, this one could be a jackass or donkey for all I know or care.  There were many there!

Someone want to say which it is?

A lovely quartet of Alpacas.  Seems the dark one has chosen to be a bit contrary for the camera.

This turkey was nothing in size compared to the one Lucy faced down in Minnesota.  It did have a pretty gobble sound though.

Now those are some snazzy socks Bubba.

A kazillion rides and food booths.

The smells of the food, feathered friends, goats, pigs, cows, horses and all was overwhelming to me.  I didn't know if I wanted to eat or throwup.

Oh Barf!

Me and horses do not go together well.  They always manage to step on me.  But I absolutely love them.  I love their eyes, deep like old souls.  So much going on behind them.  Great creatures.  This Fair had them in abundance so be patient as I show you all the ones we photoed.

There were little ones,

small ones,

regular size ones,

a stink eyed one,

a smiling one,

This one kept kicking the door everytime we stopped feeding him/her hay.  I didn't trust it for a photo so I held on to it...just like Bill.  I don't think it liked either one of us.

There was one last horse that we could only partly identify.  It was obviously part Clydesdale but the other half we couldn't see well enough to tell.

We moved off to the exhibits.  There was this one large tree that you could climb to see an Eagle's nest.  I did and here's the picture. Check out the fish head and spine.  All kinds of food stuff in this nest.

No Bill, you count sheep not straw, and besides, it's too early for a nap.

And of course what's a blog without some pretty flowers.  This is just a smittering of what was there.

So enough of this County Fair stuff.

When we left the Fair we headed for the first Steak n' Shake we could find that didn't have the smell of cow and horse poop competing with the food.

Ah milkshake and juicy burger.  Hey Larry, this ones at your request.

We remembered to stop at Ace Hardware in Geneva on the way back so we could pick up a replacement bulb for our bug zapper.  Watch out you little blood suckers...we are armed!

Bill wanted to drive along Lake Erie for the rest of the trip back and since it was a much better day than last rainy Monday we headed that way.  It's amazing how a little sunlight can promote a ratty tatty beach town to a down and out beach town.  But promote it did.  Looks a lot better in the sunshine...most of us do.

Along the coast of Lake Erie.  Reminds me of the coast of California.

Are we sure this is Lake Erie, fresh water and not the Pacific Ocean?

Almost home we go under this pass.  Do not come this way to the park with your motorhome.  You'll be down to zero air conditioners.

Ya'll come back ya hear.
