You could smell the chili cooking for blocks. We'd just finished lunch so were not tempted, which was probably a good thing.
These two flags have me wondering...what's the reasoning behind "Downtown Terre Haute" and "Terre Haute Downtown". Seems like all the same place to me.
Boy it sure feels like fall all of a sudden. I love fall colors.
All the wares of the fall holidays coming up were available at the Pumpkin Festival.
Need a pumpkin with a hat?
I almost got this but restrained myself. Running out of room.
Boo!
Lots of clowning around at the Chili Festival.
It's been a long time since I saw a clown make an animal out of a balloon.
Larry and Gail taking in all the sites.
We left downtown Terre Haute and headed to Paris (Illinois that is). But first a drive past some of the more impressive buildings.
One of many beautiful churches.
Old theater. Still in use by the looks of it. So ornate.
Veterans Memorial Building.
We are so close to Illinois we had to at least step into it.
Apparently there is disagreement between Indiana and Illinois regarding the birthplace of Abraham Lincoln. They both lay claim to him. News update: Seems he was born at 2995 Lincoln Farm Rd, Hodgenville, KY
I'm not taking the real Paris off my bucket list Bill. I still want to go to Paris France one day.
Got these at the Farmer's Market. They're ground cherries. Anyone heard of these before? I hadn't. They're sweet and taste like a cross between a cherry tomato and a sweet cherry. Unusual for sure.
Thanks for visiting again. Be back soon.
