Finally on Thursday there was a break in the heat and we felt energized enough to head out in any direction to sightsee. We kept turning right until we aimed for Rockville. Parke County seat.
This turned out to be a park dedicated to Ernie Pyle, WWII war correspondent.

Driving on we came to historic Rockville. What a fun adventure. Looking for the Tourist Information building we found it in an old train depot. The shop was closed but we got enough brochures to fill the back seat and we were off.
The first exciting find was the Variety Store. They had everything in this store. Reminded us a lot of the Wall Drug Store in Wall, SD. The store was actually four or five stores with inside access. It just kept going.

This is a beautiful old County Seat and Court House in the middle of town. All the shops were around it. We went to every one.
The guys moved along while Gail and I went into the "local artist" shop.
Pretty flowers.
I love going into "local artist" shops. You get to see the area all in one location and usually in different seasons.
I can't resist beautiful rich flowers.
I wondered if Bill had found our new couch. Luckily he hadn't and was just resting.
Just one of the many antique shops. We each bought a big pumpkin for $1. Really?
We stopped at Pizza Hut for a yummy lunch and we off again. Gail as driver and me as navigator. We are going to have a blast. First stop was Catlin Bridge. It was on the map and we WOULD find it.
Beautiful country roads.
We drove through the County Fairgrounds..no way...but suddenly there it was. A covered bridge in the middle of the golf course.
We headed home with one more bridge on our list. The Mecca Bridge in where else, Mecca.
Kids. These shoes will be in everyone's picture from the bridge until they rot off.
Gail, Larry and Bill at the other end of the bridge.
Just next to the bridge was this sign. For you square dancers (Mike McCalib) get over to Mecca.
Time to head home. We've been playing for 5 hours. Sure takes a lot of time to get all your play done.
Did a drop stop at a Farmer's Market along the way. Pumpkins were $10...we got a steal for $1 in Rockville.
Another festival we just missed. Almost home. Just one last stop at WalMart in Clinton. Then home.
An old bridge. Reminds me of the Skagit Bridge that dropped into the river.
Welcome to WalMart
A fun day. We were busier than a cat trying to bury s>>t on a marble floor. Hurry back ya'll. Thanks for sharing our day.
