Okay back to today. Ended up parking in the brand new Music City Center. Best price on all day parking and right in the heart of it all.
First stop was down the hill to the Country Music Hall of Fame. We got the Red Carpet treatment, including photos.
Tickets to the Hall of Fame.
Celebrities include Susan and Bill Rasmussen, Beth and Eric Rasmussen and Larry Rasmussen and Gail McWethy.
We parted ways at this point with Eric and Beth taking the Trolley Hop On Hop Off Tour and the rest of us heading into the Hall of Fame.
Patsy Cline. She was much tinier than I imagined.
Watched a great video with all the old stars and all the old shows. Here's a few highlights.

There's a huge rotunda with all those inducted into the Hall of Fame. I took photos of some. Hope your favorites are here. There were hundreds.
Out in the fresh air after the Hall of Fame. That was sure a lot to absorb. Very interesting too.
Now for the wild side of Nashville.
Can you imagine this place after dark? Whoooo Hooooo! There was loud country music, rock n roll music pouring out of every doorway. Sometimes it was hard to figure what sound was coming from what Honky Tonk. All these people hanging out drinking and listening to music....don't they work?
Larry was searching for a special Don Williams CD. Couldn't find it at the Hall of Fame music shop but we did at Ernest Tubbs Record Shop.
Surrounding the District is the other downtown area of high rise buildings and government buildings.
The high building in this picture is call the Batman Building.
Bought some t-shirts and a CD and crossed the street to Tootsies. Famous Honky Tonk.
The roar inside was awful. We are too old for loud music. The prices were high too. Really high.
Eric said he was glad we didn't eat here. A red flag...no hot water in the men's room.
The Ryman Auditorium is the original Grand Ole Opry.
We're starving. Time for lunch. We all decided on the Panera, none of us had ever eaten there.

Didn't see too many cowboys...lots of boots though. They must have been inside the Honky Tonks singing their hearts out.
Below is the oldest functioning State Capital building.
Nashville is referred to as the Athens of the South. It's a reference to the 17 colleges and universities. This is a full scale replica of the Athens Parthanon.
Cornelius Vanderbilt built the University of Vanderbilt in Nashville for the donation of the land. Good trade on Nashville's part. Twenty five thousand students attend this University alone.

That was a full day. We all saw the highlights of Nashville. For some of us it was the first round.

That should be a lot of fun. The next morning we head down the Natchez Trace with our first stop at the TT Natches in Hohenwald.
