And Grand It Is Too...The Grand Ole Opry

Where do you start telling about a day like today.  To begin with it was a foggy morning which slowly cleared for a nice morning but then became overcast for the rest of the day.  We all just layed low because we had a big night at the Opry coming up.

We left the park early to explore the Opry area and to stop by Camping World.  Checked out a few motorhomes but didn't see anything we liked.  Backtracking we left to see what was happening at the Opry.

We found a perfect parking spot next to the Opry and TGIFs....or so we thought.

Found Will Call for the tickets.

Had to do a little shopping in The OPRY Shop.  Lots of fun stuff.  Lots of high prices.

We're Veterans...we've seen Vince Gill.

Dinner.  We went into the Mall looking for the TGIF's.  It was a half mile down through the Mall.  We all settled for Panda Express.  Good as always.

Nightfall....it's Opry Time

Inside the Opry house.  It's just starting to fill up.  There wasn't a seat left over at curtain time.

Our show lineup.

Gail and Larry ready for the show.

Before the show started we got a big Howwww Deeee from a new Minne Pearl.

She belted howww deeeee and I came off the seat.  Never saw her come on stage I was so busy taking pictures.

And so the show begins.

The Grand Ole Opry is broadcast live during the show.  So when the entertainers change out he's on doing commercials.  He has such a radio voice.  Perfect job for him.

This young lady, named Maggie Rose was a fabulous singer and she wasn't even on the roster.

The Del McCoury Band.  Pickers and fiddlers.  I've never heard of the group but they were really good too.

Dustin Lynch, such a cutie pie.  Very hard to get a face shot of him with that big old hat.  Got a few.  He was an excellent country rock singer.  Played up to the young teens...they squealed with joy.

Ah yes, the teenyboppers really love him.  He's good too.

Larry Gatlin.  What's happening to all the cute young singers?  They all have grey hair now.  What year is it?  Time sure has flown by.

He sang Houston and one of my favorites, All The Gold In California.

TG Sheppard. What can I say, Slick.  His wife Kelly Lang sings later with Barry Gibb.

Montgomery Gentry.  Montgomery is one crazy guy (the one with the black hat).  He's a bit of a clown with a great voice.  Gentry is buff with a great voice too.  Great pair.  Sang Where I Come From...with a lot of audience participation.  Hell Yeah and My Town were favorites too.

And at last Barry Gibb.  So many great songs tonight.  To Love Somebody, Night Fever,

Words, You Should Be Dancing

Smile, dedicated to his wife of 43 years.

The night before Kenny Rogers was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame.  Barry Gibb and Kelly Lang sang Islands In the Stream in dedication to him.  Also, it was 30 years to the day that Islands In the Stream hit number #1 on the hits list with Kenny Rogers and Dolly Parton.

Ricky Skaggs.  Primarily a bluegrass musician playing a mandolin and the occasional fiddle.  I didn't actually recognize his music but I enjoyed it.

At one point Larry Gatlin came out and sang chorus for him.

Then Barry Gibb was invited to come out and sing again with Ricky Skaggs.  What a duo.

More Than A Woman

Stayin' Alive

They sang and sang.  It was a wonderful evening.  I look forward to going to the Opry again.  Tomorrow we head SOUTH at last.  Warmer weather.  Already it's sounding warmer.  Goodbye Nashville, hello Fall trees and sunshine.

Hope you enjoyed these pics.  None of them do justice to the fantastic live performance.  Come visit again...lots more coming.

Great job, Susan
Norma and I did the 75th Anniversary and had 2nd row center seats. As you know, the teany-boppers crowd between the 1st row and the stage. Garth Brooks played for an hour after end of show.
All great,
Duke
