Today started with a Beautiful Sunrise

This day would be amazing, fun, exhausting, filling, and did I say fun.

The Georgia National Fair in Perry, GA, held every October is a huge "puller" in the local communities. We arrived behind dozens of school busses and thought "this might not be the best day to visit with so many kids". The traffic director said the schools are closed during the fair time so the kids could attend. Yup, we went on in. It wasn't going to make any difference.

Never a shortage of fried, fattening food but then isn't that one of the main attractions at the fair?

Bill found a Verizon rep who convinced him the shared plan and him having a smartphone were the way to happiness. So now Bill too has a phone that's smarter than he is.

Walked into the exhibit hall and saw so much talent displayed in art, crafts, quilting, jewelry making, carving. The building oozed with creativity.

For me the most interesting quilts are shown here. I love Bargellos as above, and pictures made from fabric like the ones to the right and below.

Another favorite is incorporating many, many embroidered items, scenes and pictures into one quilt as seen below.

This is Sam X. He is an amazing and talented artist. His art is very expensive and typically on display in museums throughout the world. Once a year he dedicates his time to this fair and demonstrates his craft and skills making more art.

There was a scarecrow contest too. Probably 50 of them. I kind of liked this guy. Check out the peanuts growing out of his body.

A great idea of what to do with that left over singer sewing maching. Very cute.

What else but a funnel cake...which is dough that's deep fried. Tastes great...and

you can feel your arteries slowly clog up.

The Skyflyer seemed mild compared to some of the rides. These rides are really for the younger generation and not us old farts who are still young at heart. You could hurt something on one of these.

The ArcticBlast went so fast in circles...round and round. If I rode this ride I'm afraid I'd never regain my balance.

I've disliked bumper cars since the first time I went on one. Makes me a better driver...eh?

Really? We went on a 360 revolution at Dollyworld but it didn't just HANG upside down with body parts re-situating themselves or your cell phone falling out.

Sunset...yes, an all day adventure. But in truth we went home for 3 hours and returned. Worked out great.

You'd have to be certifiably nuts to get on this crazy ride. The three arms spin round and round and the base moves it side to side like a pendulum. BARF
