Hanging out on the Mississippi River

Now this is just one beautiful tree.

We decided to return to the Natchez Visitor Center to see the Museum and Gift Shop.  It was well worth the return visit.  Even saw our two favorite Mississippians...just sitting there, staring out to the river.

A beautiful drawing of the Under Hill Area to the right and a painting of the same area below.  The affluent lived up on the hilltop overlooking the Mississippi River.

View of the Visitor Center from the balcony.

Bill treated us to a 20 minute video of the Story of Natchez.  It was beautifully done with narratives throughout done by citizens of Natchez.

Natchez is rich in history and music.

There are at least twelve plantation homes in the town area.  The short video showed the churches and identified all the architectural styles though the towns history.  All the mansions fall into one of the styles which I've shown below.  The pictures probably don't do them justice.

You've seen this picture before when we stopped at the Sunken Trace.  It's a famous shot of the Trace, even shown at the museum.
This sums up very clearly what the Trace is all about.  All 444 miles of it which we've just about completed.

From the Visitor Center we could see the bridge that connects Mississippi to Louisiana.

The ground cover all around the trees and down the hill is Kudzu.  It grows wild and takes over everything.

Lunch Time.  We need our nourishment.  This old paddle wheeler is the Isle of Capri, a casino sitting on the shore of the Mississippi River.

The view from the stern was great.

Inside the casino is this fan shaped window.  It's very impressive.

From our table in the buffet we had a wonderful view of the Mississippi River.  Great food and you can't beat the price.  Buy one get one free.  Cost for two adults $7.00, including drinks.

Barges of all types going up and down the river the entire time we sat there.

Here's two, one going each way.

The guys were obviously extremely hungry.  Larry is about to dive into his ice cream.

Waiting on the ramp to the Isle of Capri I took this shot of the Rosalie House overlooking the river.

Why we even found the local WalMart.  Seriously though, this is the old abandoned one.  There's a new Super Duper one just down the road.  Hey, we haven't been in a WalMart for 3 days.

Got back to the park and drove around to see the cabins and the other lake or maybe it's the other side of the lake we're on.  Sure had a beautiful day to take a drive.

Here's one of the cabins.

What a pleasant afternoon.  When we got home there was a small black cat sitting on our site.  It quickly ran off into the woods.  Too small to be the eyes in the picture last night.

It was only 4 pm when we went out to sit by the fire.

A full or near full moon tonight.  We will be inside earlier.  Don't want nightmares.  I will set the dash cam up again tonight to see what might show up.

Well good night everyone.  Thanks for stopping by.  We'll see you real soon, ya hear.
