Natchez Sasquatch

We took a drive into Natchez today.  We had DQ coupons that would expire the next day so you can't legally let one expire when a DQ is within 10 miles.

Of course there are no simply trips into town with Larry.  In addition to a built in autoturn reflex for DQ he seems to have developed one for any Verizon Wireless store.  So on the way to the Visitor's Center we stopped and shopped at Verizon.  Gail is still trying to find an Iphone 5s in stock and they had them here in Natchez.  So she signed up with Verizon and that was the beginning of her frustration.  But before the rest of the story let's head over to the Visitor's Center.

 Very nice center.

Interesting museum items about Natchez but they close most of it off at 4:30 so they can count the till.  That includes the gift shop.

Beautifully landscape gardens surround the center.

We collected numerous brochures and flyers which were in abundant supply.  On the other hand interrupting the workers from their novel reading for our silly ignorant inquiries regarding their town was frowned upon.  I was highly suspicious that the two workers weren't even from Natches because they had no answers.

We saw a flyer on the board outside the doors about a carriage tour through town.  I stupidly asked one lady inside about it and she begrudgingly put down her novel to say  "Welllll mammm I caint really says I know anding bouts dat.  Wease gots nuttin bout it on de shefs.

Well we got a good laugh over that at any rate.  It must be DQ time, besides it's already dark outside.  We headed back the way we'd come and found the DQ.  This particular DQ was steeped in memorabilia.

With our buy one get one free coupon clutched tightly in our chubby little hands we waddled into the DQ.

We were drooling over our Blizzards when Gail's brand new phone rang.  So as promised, here's the rest of the story.

Gail is from Alaska and uses AT&T.  Apparently Alaska won't release, or is it AT&T, her phone number to Verizon.  Very complicated so Gail has her work cut out trying to keep her old number. Tomorrow she'll be making calls to find out her options.  She'll return the whole thing, get a Washington or Alaska/Anchorage number or ???

So we finished up with DQ and headed home for dinner.  My motto has always been, life's uncertain, eat dessert first.

We have such pretty sites at Natchez State Park.

The lake is just through trees.

We'll have a bonfire here tonight.

Of course when we got back at 6 p.m. it was pitch black.  We built a fire and sat around having our soup.  I kept hearing something moving around in the leaves 50 feet past our fire.  Well you know how speculation of what or who the sounds could be or come from goes.  Now my hearing is still excellent so I was able to track the sound and point in the direction of "its" tracking.  When I said it was behind Gail she screamed and jumped off her chair.  Well it wasn't so much that IT was right behind her so much as the sound was in the woods behind her.

So Gail's scream snowballed into a scene that escalated my response into near panic.  Of course the guys were already on their way inside.  We doused the fire and called it a night.  Locked all the doors and pulled the blinds.  We can't take any chances.

Once back in the safety of our motorhome I loaded my new dash cam with the motion activator switched on.  That night I caught this photo, proving something was out there.

That was interesting.  It could have been one of these.

So we'll never really know what could be out there.  Anyone for another fire tonight?  I've got some Moonshine to share.

So thanks for visiting.  See you soon.
