Off we go again. Next stop is
We arrived at the Tobacco Farm and turned left down a small trail which turned out to be the ancient trail that's being used for sightseers to drive down and take pictures.
So that's what we did, on the way back to the Tobacco Farm.
Back at the Tobacco Farm
The tobacco grows in the field next to the barn. It's so green still.
Tobacco hanging to dry in the barn.
This is the trail we'll be going down. Right now we're about five miles south of Meriwether Lewis Park...almost out of Tennessee. Alabama is real close and we'll be going to Red Bay to see Tiffin Mfg. sometime next week...or sooner if we can manage it. All of the Trace after that will be in Mississippi.
Swan Valley Lookout
Next stop was along the Buffalo River at the Metal Ford.
Hey Peggy, found you another fixer. Larry wanted to go to Summertown. It wasn't much of a town and actually looked better than this place. We were looking for the Amish Market. Yodel, Yoda....and that's it....Yoder.
Yoder Country Store. We were all so hungry we ordered a sandwich each. Best sandwich I've ever eaten. Fresh bread, deli turkey, sliced provolone cheese, home canned pickles, (we bought a jar too).
While we waited for our late lunch, we shopped.
The Amish don't do fancy but by golly they have everything you can imagine.
Stocked up on the gangs new favorite, GRITS. I knew I'd get Larry to love em.
The scenery is beautiful, every direction you look.
It's getting dark so early these days, it's time to get to the Eastern Time Zone to buy us another hour. It's not even four and it's almost dark. We barely made it home before dark. But for now we're tucked in home. Larry is baking a strawberry rhubard pie he bought frozen at the Amish Store. That's at 6:30 tonight. Another hour to wait.
So thanks for visiting. Come back soon.
