Wildwood Webster and Weasley...er Beasley

Tonight is our last night in Wildwood.  Talk about the good, the bad and the ugly....yep, saw it all right here.

I'm taking a wild guess and thinking these three flags are the parks mascots.

Check in at this park gave me flashbacks to Chehalis and Don Bradshaw.  Let's just say the primary office staff may have been having a bad hair life.  Yet her obviously routine pulled back and hanging straight down her back should have eliminated the hair option.  Bottom line she was not a happy camper or representative of the park.  However, in spite of her Nurse Ratchet demeanor we did hop and grovel our way through all her hoops to change site....not once but twice.

Alliance RV Repairs in Wildwood was our destination immediately after signing in to site 12.  We left a few items behinds and drove the 2 miles over to Alliance and took the site next to Sharon and Julian.  Our experience with Alliance was a good one.  But we had the advantage of hearing the horror stories of slow service.  Sharon and Julian were 38 days waiting for a new toilet.  Armed with that information we dogged our service rep, who was the best, until we finished the entire procedure.  We were diagnosed on Monday morning in 20 minutes, approved and monitor screen ordered by noon.  We stayed a couple of days visiting with Sharon and Julian and then returned to the park.  On Friday we returned to Alliance at 10 am and were back at the park before noon.  Not bad.

While at Alliance we saw up close what can happen with a blowout.  This 2005 Monaco Windsor blew the front driver's side tire.  The driver lost control, swerved and dragged his rig down a retaining wall, which was the only thing that prevented him from rolling the rig.  The cover to the generator blew off and the side panel too.

Talk about steel belted.... ouch.

A little shattered windshield.  What a mess.

Now this is sad.  Every bin door is mangled.

But on the plus side Alliance had plenty of cranes.

The town of Wildwood is sadly dilapidated.  Lots of empty storefronts, rundown buildings that once bustled, and starting up businesses trying to hang on.  The best part of Wildwood is the rural environment that thrives and feels a world apart from "The Villages", a senior community of a projected 65,000 homes, a dozen golf courses, and on and on.  This only a mile away from this.....

or this

even this

and who could forget Bessie?

and her sisters....

or hey Peggy....found another fixer for you....cows included.

Of course life could not be complete without a visit to the Monday 5 a.m. to 2 p.m. Webster Flea Market.  Without a doubt the largest, never ending, row after row, of stuff.

Need a collector salt and pepper shaker?

A chihauhau puppy wine bottle holder?

For years we'd heard the infamous Beasley Mfg. was at a big flea market in Florida every week.  Now we finally find it.  But we know now where their shop is too.  That's tomorrow's outing.

Later that evening we all gathered to share our finds and purchases and snark down on goodies and wine.  The end of a nice day.

Thanks for visiting.  Come back soon.

Your pics of the blown tire are scary. We have tire sensors and new tires which hopefully will safe us from such a disaster. It was nice meeting you guys and had fun at lunch. Safe travels.
