Family Ties and Fishkill, NY

Such a beautiful drive to Fishkill.  FISHKILL??? Say what???  Okay, Okay, it was a curiosity visit.  My sister Peggy does our family ancestry searches, and a fine job she does of it too.  It seems on my mother's side of our ancestry and more particularly our maternal grandfather's side we have family that was actually born in Fishkill.  Some are buried in the vicinity also.  So I was on a hunt for headstones for her.

Beautiful churches every direction you look.  No significance to this one, just beautiful.

It's apparent this little village has not changed much since 1899, but our family was there in the early 1800's.  Keep searching.

We took the dogs with us for the day and stopped for a potty break at this pretty lake.

And next door was this little park.

Saw  this church and graveyard and almost drove past it.  It's the local Episcopal Church but no John or Emily Mead.  I did get directions to one graveyard across the road and a cemetery up the highway.

The Dutch Reform Church across the street was a dead end also but a pretty and peaceful graveyard.

A half mile up the road was the Fishkill Rural Cemetery.  I did find a John Mead but it wasn't the right one.  This one was 4 years old child when he died.  I'm passing this information on to Peggy and put the ball in her park.

Driving back we came across this old old church being restored.

An overlook before coasting down to Accord and the park.  It was a nice day and I can now say I've been to Fishkill, NY.

WhooooHooooo.  Come back again, ya hear.
