No open shoes allowed and though I knew that before we left I still forgot to wear something other than my sandals. Not a problem. I was loaned these super fashionable clogs. Just need to keep an eye out for the fashion police.
First of we watched a video and I had my fingers in my ears for 10 minutes just to prevent the blood loss from the rupture from the sound blast. Is everyone deaf around me?
But they sure are pretty. We went on a walking tour of the plant. Since the 2015 line was being set up we couldn't go into the assembly line but we did go to the different components and of course the small museum had plenty of information.
Now let me carry on like I know what I'm talking about.
Seriously now, one of the primary components of the frame is it's comparison to an athlete's spine. Like a spine, "the frame of the motorcycle supports its weight, harnesses its power, and keeps it tracking true". The background of a Harley-Davidson motorcycle is made of welded steel.
Raw materials have been transformed from steel then stamped and pressed, forged or formed, welded and polished until it's smooth.
Walking through the plant we saw each step of this stamping, pressing, forging or forming. Then it goes to paint.
Yada
Yada
Yada
The Twin-Cam V-Twin engine below is what gives each Harley-Davidson its distinctive character and tone.
Oh man that is not from me....hahaha. But it's true, or so they say.
Now let's get real. I love this thing. Sorry Mom. Oh yeah Dad. But now I'm going to say this whole Harley-Davidson thing is a tailgate. I'm just not a biker chick afterall.
We were directed to the White Rose Bar and Grill in downtown York.
Well it had Stella Artos so it can't be all bad. Actually the burgers we had were delicious. Mine was called a Chesapeake and it was topped with Crab Dip. I meant to take a picture but...well...I ate it too fast.
This market is a bit different than the Lancaster Central Market. But it's Tuesday and that's Market Day throughout this area.
Across the street is the White Rose. We ate outside on the patio.
Driving back to Lancaster we passed yet another cemetery. All the beautiful flags caught our eye.
So that was our day in York. Bikes and Beer. Not a bad day eh?
Thanks for visiting. Come back soon.
