We just about drove out of Oklahoma but stopped for the night in a truck stop, near a casino in a little town called "Stringtown". Nuff said.
Texas is just halfway across this bridge.
I guess this is what Texas looks and feels like.
Depends on who you talk to but this park is going to seed or it's getting better.
Looks pretty nice to me except it is right smack in the middle of nowhere.
Nice adult lodge.
Finally a hot spa. The pool is still cold enough to skate on.
The family lodge is closed for the season as well as the extra large family pool.
Lots of cute signs and decorations.
Nicest dump station I've seen so far.
Or the bunnies.
Someone spent a lot of time on an old tree stump.
Took a drive and found a Catalina 38 sailboat coming towards us on the near single land road. Barely got turned around for a picture of the stern end before it took off down the highway.
Drove down the road a piece and got to Collinsville. Now that was truly a waste of gas. Just a little old town most people have forgotten. Population: 262
Headed back to the park and decided to check out Whitesboro. Main crossroad town. Pop: 475
Got back to the park and turned left at the entrance, heading for the marina which is most likely where that Catalina sailboat came from.
Beautiful lake and lawn but the girls would NOT step onto it. I figured out real fast that the goats-heads, burrs, those Palm Desert things, are on steroids down in Texas. Suckers are the size of raisins.
Yes indeed, this is where it came from.
So this is about as much as we allowed time for in Texas. Tomorrow we head to Lubbock then Roswell, NM.
Thanks for visiting and by the way Larry and Gail have had to don life jackets up in Arkansas with all the rain they've been having.
Come back soon. More last minute decisions are in the making. Susan
