Dollywood Double Trouble

We are still recovering from 10 hours of Dollywood.  Day Two was a hoot.  We saw great shows, nearly scared the life out of ourselves going on the roller coasters and ate and shopped and, and, and....

Started the second day at Dollywood with another trolley car ride and then went straight to the museum.  Dolly Parton is a beautiful woman and seems almost ageless.

Her lifelong friend, Kenny Rogers.

There were dozens and dozens of dresses, shoes and accessories.  Too many to absorb really, so here's just one sample.

A few attic items.

Her first motorhome, a 45 foot Prevost, was also there to view.  Of course it was beautiful inside also.  The only change is the removal of the pink carpet.  Thank you, thank you.  It was said Dolly did all the cooking and her traveling companions did all the cleaning.

There were three bunks down the hall on the right.

Dolly's bedroom.

Dolly's private bath.  There was one other bath for her companions.

The first show we saw was "My People".  A great Smokey Mountain music variety show that included many of her cousins and even her brother.  This was interesting because Dolly was on the big screen and interacted with the live entertainers.  Everyone on the front stage is family.  Second row is "family best friends".

Top Row:  Brother

The rest are cousins.

Everyone of them had a great voice. Talent definitely runs in this family.

We enjoyed about 45-50 minutes of great songs.

The second show, which immediately followed the first, but in a different theater, was "Dreamland Drive-In".  A tribute to the 50's and 60's music.  This amazingly talented group of young entertainers told a story of friendship, love....everyone's story.

The 50's

The 60's

A GREAT SHOW!!!

Lunch at Miss Lillian's.  Great chicken dinner.  We were hungry after all that dancing.

Now let's take a break from the shows and play a little.  Train ride anyone?  Whoo whoo..chuga chuga chuga.

All Aboard!

A gorgeous sunny day for an open train ride...who cares about cinders in your eyes or coal soot on your clothes....

Numerous cabins, typical to the Smokey Mountains rural areas were displayed along the five mile route.

A pretty long train too.

Even a moonshine still.

The beautiful smokey mountains in the distance.

Fall is soooooo in the air.

We had checked out the "Daredevil Falls" yesterday.  Hey, we're daredevils right?  Let's do it.

Whew...Bill and Susan, front row and Gail all by herself, hiding behind us.

You can see my visor flying off and can you believe Gail caught it!

This must have been one hell of a ride.  Glad we missed it.

The next toss caution to the wind was a ride on the "Tennessee Tornado".  That pretty much sums it up.

I think we've all gone and lost our minds.   Even Bill joined us on this one.

There were about five 360 degree loops.

I wasn't sure I was going to be able to get off after it was over.

My legs were weak.

Okay, I'm done.  Ain't what I use to be that's for sure.

But what fun.

We continued our staggering down into Timber Country.

Not a chance guys!

The park is loaded with beautiful scenery, funny signs, and good entertainment.

A massive, huge American Bald Eagle.  Magnificent.

The last show we saw and a wrapup for the day was "Crossroads Country".  Five performers singing and dancing to high energy classic country.  Another great show.

By golly, that was a day.  Now to go home and pack up to head for our trip
through the Smokey Mountains.

Thanks for visiting.  See you soon.
