Gulf Beaches

We had a wonderful sunset last night during our "bring your dinner" happy hour.

Randy and Sherry chowing down on ribs, Bill wishing he'd had that instead of an Asian Salad with chicken and Gail is wondering where Larry is with their burgers.

A beautiful pink and blue sunset through the trees.

This morning we woke to a sunny though cool morning.  We came to Largo to go see some beaches so that's where we headed.  Up the peninsula we headed and across a number of waterways.  This is Tampa across the bay to the East.

Lots of high rise condos and resorts along the way.

Brilliant white sands along the beaches.  No lifeguards on duty but that shouldn't be a problem.

Getting ready to hit the sand.

Larry and Gail opted to go alone on a "date".

The beach was lined with shells.  A lot of them were busted up but there was enough to scavenge off and into the shoes.

Tons of shells littered the high tide line.

Way down the beach is a pier.  We didn't walk that far down.  We were moving too slow picking up shells.
Sherry and I have proof we put our feet into the gulf.  It wasn't long before both of us were walking on numb feet.  The water was freezing cold.

A whole bunch of fan shell clam carcasses.  The seagulls and sandpipers must have had a feast.

Oh dear...these clouds sure moved in fast.  A lot of beach goers are packing up.  Probably a good idea to join the evacuation.
Oh yeah...we're heading back to the truck.
 Still heading......it's a big beach.
 Bill doesn't seem too concerned.

This front is moving fast.

One last wiggle of my toes in the silky white sand.

A quick rinse of the feet and we're off to see if we can find Larry and Gail.

We no sooner said we can keep the truck windows down until it rains when it started raining.  We headed south along the same route we came north on and the sky was completely different.  These are some of the big hotel and resort beaches along the way.

We earlier stopped in at the Sand Key Park because it was suppose to be a "dog friendly beach".  Ha.  The sign going in says "no dogs on beach".  Doesn't seem so friendly to me.  There was a large dog park but it cost $5 to park just to go in.  Pass on this one.  We'll keep looking.

We actually did manage to find Larry and Gail at that pier in one of my photos.  Here we are at our favorite Steak N Shake.  This was a first for Randy and Sherry.  It was a thumbs up all around.

We're patiently waiting for our dinners.

Hey Sherry, what's with the salad and a milk shake?

Rain went away, sun came out and we found our way back to Vacation Village.  A good day.

Thanks for visiting.  See you soon.
