Sunday At The Dig Site

Sunday morning was quiet and damp from the previous nights cloudburst.  That would all change by noon into a rollicking, rolling, crowd pleasing rescue.  Not of the life or death version, but of the entertainment version.  We thought we were all top of the heap motor home residents until a sparkling new 2014 Itasca Eclipse, all 42 feet of her, came down the road across from us and turned into the space beside us.  That is until he mysteriously stopped short of the end of the runway.

Houston, we have a problem.  The tires were spinning throwing sand in all the weaklings faces.  No one dared approach.  Finally the driver came out justa scratching his head somepin fierce like.  Yup Bubba, you be stuck.

Now this didn't look that unmanageable at first look so the "hands on the hips" guys standing around gawking got to action like they were dousing a house on fire.  Wood blocks were flying out of the rigs, shovels were appearing from every direction and the excavation began.  Now that's about what I'd call it, an excavation.  Before long the ruts under his tires proved life existed in this exact spot over 500 years ago, so deep was the rescue effort.

After three hours of butt scratching, trying to figure out why he was more stuck now than when he started, ole Bubba called his trusty tow truck coverage people.  "Sending one out right quick" was their response.  Ninety minutes later the first little piggy showed up.  Hmmm..."not to worry" he says.  "I'll huff and I'll puff and I'll haul this doggie out" said the driver as he was slowly dragged backwards into the grill of the Eclipse.  So okay, let's regroup they all agreed and bring a real tow truck out.  And so that is what they did.

Big Red arrived about an hour later.  By now the women were sitting around knitting and planning a feed.  But it turned out to not be necessary.  Big Red wasn't messing around with Bubba's high muckety Eclipse...."dang rich city folk".   So Big Red commenced to action.

Here's a little pop quiz.  Which one of these fellers would you want to pull your 45,000 pound rig out of a two foot hole of sand?  You're right.

So once the big feed was off, the knitting and chairs went away and everyone closed in for the finale.

"Hookem up" yelled Big Red, "Haulem out" he bellowed.  Everyone's hands were on their cheeks as Big Red revved up her engine.

SLURRRRP was the sound the Eclipse made as it broke loose from the excavation pit a few seconds later.  No damage and some everlasting embarrassment for Bubba.  We'll see Bubba up the road again as it will turn out.  His name is Rick and he's a nice guy with two cats, four dogs, and a broken winged wife on board.

Riley, the Yorkie put his signature of opinion on the 7 hour ordeal.  He summed it up right nicely iffin your asking me.

Ya'll come back now ya hear.  Thanks for sharing a fun day at the park.  So easily entertain we be.
